Orange Cake Recipes

recipe image

This cake has the texture of a pound cake and gets its flavor from fresh orange juice.

Ingredients:

  • Butter: ½ cup/1 stick (i used unsalted homemade butter)
  • Sugar: 1 cup.
  • Flour: 2 cups.
  • Eggs: 3
  • Fresh orange juice: 1 cup.
  • Salt: ½ tsp
  • Baking powder: 2 tsp.
  • Orange rind: 1 tsp.

Instructions:

  1. I used fresh orange, and needed this much orange to get 1 cup of juice. Take the juice and keep it aside. Meanwhile preheat oven to 180 degree C (350) and grease and flour a standard baking tray. I used glass baking tray.
  2. Cream butter and sugar, I used granulated sugar. so cream for about a min.
  3. Add in 3 eggs and cream again, for about 2 min or until fluffy and creamy.
  4. Add in the sifted flour, 2 tsp baking powder, and salt. If you are using salted butter, omit the salt.
  5. Finally add in the 1 cup of fresh orange juice and cream or fold lightly. The batter should be fluffy and spongy, not loose so when you add orange juice add accordingly until you get the consistency. You might need a little more or little less.
  6. This is the fluffy spongy batter we are looking for. Pop in your fingers and check if everything is okay!
  7. And lastly the orange rind, fold in!
  8. Bake in preheated oven at 180 degree C for 30-35 min or until done.
  9. Outta oven!! and the kitchen smelled heaven!
  10. Serve while warm!

Orange Flan recipes Recipes

recipe image

This amazingly creamy nondairy flan has two stealth ingredients: almond milk and orange-flower water. The former adds richness but no strong almond flavor, which allows the orange juice and zest to shine. A smidgen of the latter boosts the fragrance of the fruit, but most importantly, it slips in something a little exotic that makes this dessert an absolute knockout.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar, divided
  • 8 large egg yolks
  • 4 whole large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange zest
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 cup unsweetened plain almond milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons orange-flower water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F with rack in middle.
  2. Bring water and 1/2 cup sugar to a boil in a small heavy saucepan over medium heat, stirring until sugar has dissolved, then wash down any sugar crystals from side of pan with a pastry brush dipped in cold water. Boil, without stirring, swirling pan occasionally so caramel colors evenly, until dark amber. Immediately pour caramel into baking dish and tilt to coat bottom (dish will be hot). Cool until hardened, 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Whisk together remaining ingredients, including remaining 3/4 cup sugar (or blend in a blender). Pour custard over caramel.
  4. Bake in a water bath until custard is set 3 inches from edge but still wobbly in center, 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Transfer flan in dish to a rack to cool completely, about 40 minutes (flan will continue to set as it cools). Chill until cold, at least 8 hours.
  5. To unmold flan, run a thin knife around edge of dish, then dip dish briefly (about 20 seconds) in a pan of very warm water. Invert a large platter with a rim over baking dish, then quickly invert to turn out flan onto platter (caramel will pour out over and around flan). Let stand at room temperature 30 minutes before serving.

  3. Beat whites with salt in a large bowl using an electric mixer at medium speed until they just hold soft peaks. Add remaining 3 tablespoons granulated sugar a little at a time, beating, then beat until whites just hold stiff peaks.
