Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake Recipes

recipe image

What could possibly be better than a strawberry milkshake? A strawberry cheesecake milkshake! The cream cheese, which has a tang of its own that’s enhanced by the lemon zest, helps make this milkshake as thick as, well, concrete (the very apt Missouri term for a milkshake). If the idea of frozen strawberries hits you as totally counter to your locavore sensibilities, know that they are another secret to a milkshake thick enough to eat with a spoon, and if you grow your own or buy them at the farmers’ market, we urge you to freeze them for this shake. You’ll find the directions in the Cooks’ Notes at the end of the recipe. Editor’s Note: This recipe is part of Gourmet’s Modern Menu for Burger Bash. Menu also includes Bacon-Cheddar Burgers with Caramelized Onions and Homemade French Fries with Five Dipping Sauces.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups vanilla ice cream
  • 6 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 1 pound frozen strawberries (not in syrup)

Instructions:

  1. In two batches if necessary, blend together ice cream, cream cheese, milk, vanilla, lemon zest, and strawberries in a blender until smooth, 1 to 2 minutes.

Mini Buttermilk Berry Milkshake Recipe Recipes

recipe image

Makes enough for about 4-6, depending on serving glass size.

Ingredients:

  • 3 big scoops of top shelf vanilla ice cream
  • 1/3c.-1/2c. buttermilk
  • A cup or so of berries
  • A splash of Creme de Cassis

Instructions:

  1. Let me start off this recipe by saying that you can make the swirl out of just about anything. We always have berries in the freezer because Wayne loves to make smoothies every morning. Just use what ever you've got around.
  2. Let your vanilla ice cream soften up a bit before scooping three XL scoops into a big sized glass or cup. Mix in the buttermilk using a milkshake machine, an immersion blender, or by hand. I like my milkshakes extra thick, so I don't like to over mix them or thin them out with too much liquid. If your milkshake gets too thin, just add another scoop or two of ice cream.
  3. Make the berry puree: Puree berries with an immersion or regular blender. Incorporate a small splash of creme de cassis.
  4. Spoon or pour a bit of the vanilla milkshake into each serving glass, add a bit of the berry puree, more of the milkshake, more puree, and so on. Give the milkshakes a bit of a swirl with a spoon and serve immediately.
  5. Makes enough for about 4-6, depending on serving glass size.

Bananas Foster Milkshake Recipe Recipes

recipe image

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large banana, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup dark rum
  • pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup cold whole or lowfat milk
  • 8 medium scoops French Vanilla ice cream, softened until just melty at the edges

Instructions:

  1. For the bananas Melt the butter in a medium nonstick skillet over medium heat and heat until it stops foaming. Add the bananas and brown sugar, stir to help melt the sugar and coat the bananas, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the bananas are soft and saucy, about 2 minutes.
  2. Add 3 tablespoons (1½ ounces/45 milliliters) of the rum, allow it to warm for a few seconds, and carefully wave a lit chimney match over the pan until the rum ignites.
  3. Allow the rum to burn until it extinguishes, about 30 seconds. Off the heat, add the cinnamon, stir to combine, and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, about 20 minutes.
  4. For the shake Place the bananas, sauce, milk, and remaining 1 tablespoon (½ ounce/15 milliliters) of rum in a blender and blend to mix thoroughly, about 30 seconds. Add the ice cream and pulse several times to begin breaking it up.
  5. With the blender motor off, use a flexible spatula to mash the mixture down onto the blender blades. Continue pulsing, stopping, and mashing until the mixture is well blended, thick, and moves easily in the blender jar, roughly 30 to 90 seconds. Pour into a chilled glass or glasses, and serve at once.
